Altar Guild Prayer
Grant, we beseech thee, that we may handle holy things
with reverence, and
perform our work with such faithfulness and devotion that it may rise with
acceptance before thee and obtain thy blessing: through Christ our Lord. Amen
St. Martin’s Altar Guild
currently consists of three members; Amal Baty, Evi
and Brian Smock. The Altar Guild has a long and proven history. All Altars can
trace their history back to the Tabernacle and the work of the Levitical Priests
chosen for their perfection, sanctity, and dutiful care of God’s Table. The
members of St. Martin’s don’t go to the extreme that was required back then but
the care, devotion and sanctity are still the values that drive this group. The
care required for this work enriches this ministry like no other. To be a
servant for God’s Altar is duly rewarding and is witnessed by all. We are also
blessed with the assistance of past members Elizabeth Hoefert, Meg Barrett and
Sandy Smock. The Altar Guild receives its guidance from the Vicar of St.
Martin’s and has several resources for guidance and support. The Diocese also
has a blog for Altar Guild related issues that is very effective for
communicating ideas and needs for all congregations.
